About Sarah Hamman

Sarah Hamman is a Connellsville, Pennsylvania native who relocated to Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 2019. Hamman has been actively performing since childhood and spent her youth in multiple children’s choirs, theater companies and studying musical theater at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera.

To advance her music success, Hamman received a Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Arts in Music, both with vocal emphasis, from Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia where she studied voice with Mr. Lewis Hall, tenor.

Following her bachelor degrees, Hamman relocated to Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she received a Master of Music in Choral Conducting in 2020 under the direction of Dr. Gregory Fuller. Hamman went on to teach K-5 General Music in North Little Rock, Arkansas during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic but returned to Hattiesburg after receiving a chance to study voice with Dr. Meredith Melvin Johnson with an addition Master of Music in Vocal Performance that will be completed in May 2023. Since moving to Hattiesburg, Hamman has been fortunate to work with artistic outlets such as Southern Opera & Musical Theater Company, FestivalSouth, Hub City Players, Hattiesburg Community Theater and Opera Mississippi.

Throughout her scholastic years, Hamman has had many opportunities to lead and perform. A few principal opportunities include leading/assisting ensembles such as The West Virginians, Southern Miss Concert Choir, Spirit of Southern, Gulf Coast Community Choir, and Hattiesburg Oratorio Chorus.

In the summer of 2022, Hamman spent a month in Germany expanding her skills and knowledge of opera and musical theater with the International Performing Arts Institute. During this time, she studied with renowned vocalists and pedagogues and had the opportunity to audition for Stage Entertainment in Hamburg. She will be returning to continue that endeavor in summer 2023 as a staff member for the institute.

Hamman’s performance credits proliferate across multiple styles. She has performed in many choir, musical theater and opera settings that have allowed her to feel confident in her art. A few notable musical theater/opera performances include: Miss Adelaide (Guys and Dolls), The Witch (Into the Woods), Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte), Mame (Mame), Lucy Van Pelt (You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown), Missy (The Marvelous Wonderettes), Lucy (The Telephone), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel).
